Beit Elisha
The Beit Elisha curative community was established in 1995 as a home for life for adults with a variety of special needs, disabilities, and behavioral and social difficulties.
Within the supportive framework of Beit Elisha, community members are able to realize their full potential and experience independence, self-efficacy, and honor. The philosophy at the foundation of the curative community sees every person as a whole human being who can grow and change, experience personal and professional fulfillment, acquire new tools, and continue to develop. The community framework and the unique rehabilitative program help members progress to the best of their abilities to a more independent life, while allowing them to discover their capacities for initiative and creativity.
The Beit Elisha community is currently home to approximately 65 members, aged 18 and older, who were referred to the community by the Rehabilitation Division of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Most community members live in Kibbutz Harduf with full or partial assistance; others live in several therapeutic halfway houses in the nearby town of Kiryat Tivon; and a small number participate in rehabilitative activities in Beit Elisha on a daily basis without living on site.
Starting in 2015, we are beginning to work with rehabilitation members on the edge of the autism spectrum. These new community members are of mid-range and higher functioning capacity, and are referred to us by the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Autism Services Division.
